Monte Carlo: Probability and Methods
Lefkada, Greece,28-31 August 2009.
The first edition of the Greek Stochastics Meeting with theme: Monte Carlo: Probability and Methods took place in Lefkada, Greece, during 28-31 of August 2009 and had great success and atmosphere thanks to all the participants!
The meeting was addressed to young researchers (up to 30 years old or with 2 to 8 years of research experience), and aimed at discussing current research themes related to Monte Carlo methodology and other related subjects.

The meeting consisted of three plenary lectures and also contributed talks by the young researchers.
The plenary lectures of the short course were given by :
Nial Friel (University College Dublin) on "Markov Random Fields".
Ioannis Kontoyiannis (Athens University of Economics and Business) on "Pattern matching, entropy, and biological sequence analysis".
Omiros Papaspiliopoulos (Universitat Pompeu Fabra) on "Simulation of conditioned Markov processes''.
There was also an invited talk by
Apostolos Doxiadis on "Uncertainty in Ancient Greece".
There was given a prize to Anthony Lee (Oxford) for the best contributed talk which was sponsored by:
