Lefkada, Greece, 25-28 August 2010.
Following last year's success, the second "edition" of the Greek Stochastics Meeting will take place in Lefkada, Greece, on August 25-28, 2010.
Young researchers (no more than 30 years old or having 2 to 8 years of research experience) are invited to submit their work. The meeting's primary aim, is to facilitate a broad discussion of current research themes in probability and statistics. It will consist of three short courses around the general theme of the interaction between biology and probabilistic/statistical theory and methods as well as, contributed talks by young researchers. Note that the contributed talks could be in any topic of statistics or probability.
To be considered for a contributed talk (or a poster presentation) please submit a title and an extended abstract (up to one page long) to until the 14th of May 2010. Notification of acceptance will be sent out by the 28th of May 2010. As the total number of presentations may be somewhat limited, it is advised to apply as soon as possible.

Chris Holmes (University of Oxford) on "Bayesian methods in modern genetic epidemiology".
Dario Spano (University of Warwick) on "Exchangeable models in Population Genetic".
Nikos Demiris (Agricultural University of Athens) on "Epidemics: Stochastic Modelling and Statistical Inference".
There will also be a general interest invited talk by
Stavros Katsanevas on "Current thinking in astroparticle physics and cosmology".

A limited number of rooms is available at IONION STAR HOTEL (http://www.ionion-star.gr/) at 60 and 80 Euros for single and double rooms respectively.
People who wish to attend the workshop are strongly advised to book as early as possible directly at the hotel.
Travel
There are regular bus services to Lefkada while the closest airport is Aktion-Preveza (PVK), see here for more information.

Registration fees will be paid on the first day of the workshop.
